Cambridgewordfest 2008
Friday 28th - Sunday 30th March

Cathy Moore - Festival Director Welcome to cambridgewordfest, one of the youngest and most vibrant literary festivals in Britain. Set in the beautiful and historic heart of Cambridge, the festival offers a sociable weekend packed with the best of contemporary literature and commentary on key political issues, and workshops for adults and children.

Thanks to the support of our audiences, publishers, authors, Friends, volunteers and sponsors, 2007 was a remarkable year for wordfest. Jeannette Winterson, Tony Harrison, Jacqueline Wilson, Rageh Omaar, Michael Rosen, Sarah Waters, PD James, Graham Swift, Billy Bragg and Clive Stafford Smith were among the authors who appeared. The programme included over 50 events and workshops for readers of all ages, a free Family Day and a hugely popular Literary Quiz. More people came, more tickets were sold and more books were bought. And the sun shone gloriously.

Preparations for wordfest'08 are well under way. Our Programme team is busy lining up another exciting mixture of acclaimed authors and emerging talents, as well as the best in writing and publishing workshops and children's events.

There are exciting developments on our website too. Please check back here soon to take a tour.

Most of all, please do join us in March for another weekend of literary celebration!

".goes from strength to strength and is one of the best literary festivals I have taken part in."

". . . one of the liveliest and most likeable literary festivals in the country. It deserves a lot of admiration and support."
Andrew Motion

"There is an excitement about the events which infects both audiences and authors, and the readings are the better for it. It is a festival at which audiences know what they like, know what they're looking for, and come looking for it in droves. A wonder and a pleasure."
Tobias Hill

"In its few short years Wordfest has not just quietly revolutionised the literary scene in Cambridge but has provided a key date in the Festivals Calendar."
Ali Smith
